I am working with a very open brief on the mobile game project I am currently doing visual development art for - Sealboy - where I have the opportunity to freely experiment and define a distinctive art style. One of the styles, I got a permission to show, because it will definitely not be used for the game.
I knew I wanted a pseudo-polygonal style, where everything at least looked like it was entirely made of triangles. Since it was style waaaaay out of my comfort zone I started off with a life-drawing session where I tried to apply that visual language:

The required character had to be based in Britain in the 1960's. So I continued working in my sketchbook, noting down ideas based on extensive historical references. I selected a few sketches that seemed to come together well and then I started working on them digitally aiming to use bright 60s colours and all shapes to be triangular.
